What does Cognitice Dissonance mean? Why do you have to be so fancy shmancy =\
Cognitive dissonance "is the uncomfortable tension that comes from holding two conflicting thoughts at the same time" according to wikipedia.
I guess in my case, it was an uncomfortable tension when that came from someone else's actions and my perceptions about myself. So it's not quite an appropriate use of the term. Close enough though.
That should read "... it was an uncomfortable tension that came...."
